The Knesset (Hebrew: הַכְּנֶסֶת [haˈkneset]; lit. the gathering or assembly; Arabic: الكنيست al-K(e)neset) is the unicameral national legislature of Israel. As the legislative branch of the Israeli government, the Knesset passes all laws, elects the President and Prime Minister (although the latter is ceremonially appointed by the President), approves the cabinet, and supervises the work of the government. In addition, the Knesset elects the State Comptroller. It also has the power to waive the immunity of its members, remove the President and the State Comptroller from office, dissolve the government in a constructive vote of no confidence, and to dissolve itself and call new elections. The Prime Minister may dissolve the Knesset. However, until an election is completed, the Knesset maintains authority in its current composition. The Knesset is located in Givat Ram, Jerusalem.

There have been Israeli Arab members of the Knesset ever since the first Knesset elections in 1949. The following is a list of the 77 past and present members. Some Israeli Druze dispute the label "Arab" and consider Druze to be a separate ethnic group. However, as they speak Arabic as their first language they are still included in this list.
Sharren Haskel (Hebrew: שרן השכל, born 4 March 1984) is an Israeli member of the Knesset for Likud. She is the youngest member of Likud and the second youngest member of the 20th Knesset. She speaks fluent French, English, and Hebrew.
Haskel was born in Toronto, Canada to a Moroccan mother and Israeli father. Her family immigrated to Israel a year after her birth. She was raised in Kfar Saba and studied theatre at Katznelson high school where she was a leader in scouts, and later transferred to Ankori high school where she studied Cinema. At the age of 18, Haskel served in the Israel Defense Forces where she was a combat soldier at the Israel Border Police during the second intifada.
Haskel completed her bachelor's degree in political science and international relations at the Open University of Israel, where she was active in the debate team. In 2014, Haskel won the Israeli National Champion Debate. She also took course at the Jewish Statesmanship Center in Public Policy. Haskel also attended Santa Monica College in Los Angeles for a year after her military service.
The members of the 20th Knesset were elected on 17 March 2015 and sworn in on 31 March 2015.
Likud (Hebrew: הַלִּיכּוּד, translit. HaLikud, lit. The Consolidation), officially the Likud–National Liberal Movement, is the major center-right political party in Israel. A secular party, it was founded in 1973 by Menachem Begin in an alliance with several right-wing and liberal parties. Likud's landslide victory in the 1977 elections was a major turning point in the country's political history, marking the first time the left had lost power. In addition, it was the first time in Israel that a right-wing party won the plurality of the votes. However, after ruling the country for most of the 1980s, the party lost the Knesset election in 1992. Nevertheless, Likud's candidate Benjamin Netanyahu did win the vote for Prime Minister in 1996 and was given the task of forming a government after the 1996 elections. Netanyahu's government fell apart after a vote of no confidence, which led to elections being called in 1999 and Likud losing power to the One Israel coalition led by Ehud Barak.

This incident occured on October 21st, 2015, in the midst of a 2 year wave of violence sweeping the whole of Israel and the Palestinian territories, during which hundreds of individual Palestnians mostly youths, tried to kill Israeli civillians and soldiers using car rammings, firearms and mostly stabbings. The Palestinians have accused Israel for allegedly trying to undermine the status quo on the site known as Temple Mount for Jews or al-Haram al-Sharif for Muslims - thus provoking the wave of violence to take place, a narrative widely embraced by Palestinian members of the Israeli parliament. The Israeli government has denied the occusation, instead blaming the Palestinian authority and their supporters in the Israeli-Arab public for incitement and lie-spreading. Only a week preior to ...
The State of Israel was founded on the basis of ethnic cleansing and ethnic supremacy. Its legal system and its parliament are the cornerstone of the Israeli apartheid system. These days the veneer of democracy is fading away and we can easily witness the clear examples of supremacy, fascism and apartheid (which were there all along but not as explicit). 70 years ago, the United Nations voted to recognize the Palestine partition plan, paving the way for a Jewish state alongside an Arab state. Over the following decades that casual preposition "alongside" turned into a geopolitically fraught proposition, the wisdom of which the Israeli leadership now openly contests. Will the time ever come for "alongside" to mean the coexistence of the two states, as was initially envisaged? Oksana is joined by Aida Touma-Sliman, Arab Member of the Knesset to discuss this. A slinging match between Knesset members broke out in the Knesset plenum on Tuedsay and turned into a heated argument between Israeli and Arab Knesset members. The war of words erupted when MK Effy Eitam declared that all those who participated in a march at Umm el Faham to protest Israel's military operations in Gaza should be banished to Gaza. Arab Knesset members were quick to respond, calling Knesset members affiliated with the Right traitors, who slaughter innocent Palestinian children.05/03/08
That's the Israeli democracy for you. The country that suppose to be the only democratic country in the middle east.
Clashes erupted between Israel parliament deputies during a parliamentary session on the country’s reconciliation agreement with Turkey. While signing the reconciliation agreement, member of Knesset for the Joint List Haneen Zoabi said that soldiers from the Israeli Defence Forces were "murderers" because of the attack on the Turkish humanitarian aid Freedom Flotilla in 2010. Zoabi's comment caused anger among members, with some Knesset members shouting and running towards the podium to remove her from the lectern. JERUSALEM. Her name is Haneen ZOABI and until a couple weeks ago she was virtually unknown except in the Israeli political establishment...but this all changed after this Israeli Arab member of the Knesset boarded the Mavi Marmara en route to Gaza, granting Israeli networks live interviews from the Turkish ship where violent clashes between passengers and Israeli marine commandos left nine people dead. Now she's at the heart of one of the most talked about controversies in Israeli politics with her fellow deputies going so far as to push for her citizenship to be withdrawn along with all of her parliamentary privileges. They're calling her a traitor and a terrorist.

Despite the fact that most members of the African Hebrew Israelite community in Dimona, Israel received permanent residency status in 2003, there are dozens of young people who have no citizenship whatsoever.
